Pinellas County minors are subject to Florida Statute Sec. 877.22, restricting under-18 presence in public places overnight and during school suspension hours, with warnings then civil fines.
Florida Statute Sec. 877.22 sets a statewide juvenile curfew that applies in Pinellas County and its incorporated cities. Minors under 18 may not be in public places or establishments between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and between 12:01 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Saturdays, Sundays, and legal holidays. Suspended or expelled students may not be in public places or within 1,000 feet of a school from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on school days. Statutory exceptions include accompaniment by a parent, work commute, emergency errands, and going to or from a school, religious, or government-sponsored activity. Several Pinellas cities have layered local curfew ordinances on top of the state law.
First violations receive a written warning. Subsequent violations are civil infractions with a $50 fine per occurrence; the minor is held until a parent retrieves them or a curfew program assumes custody.
