Erie, PA Curfew Laws: Juvenile Curfew (2026)

Article 738, adopted by Ordinance No. , every night of the week, all year. 03 makes it unlawful for a minor (anyone under 18 who is not married or emancipated) to remain in a public place, in a parked or operating motor vehicle, or in a private establishment open to the public during those hours, unless one of ten listed exceptions applies: being accompanied by a parent; responding to an emergency; traveling to or from a job without detour; standing on the sidewalk directly abutting the minor's own home or a consenting next-door neighbor's property; attending or traveling directly to or from an adult-supervised school, religious or civic activity; running a parent-authorized errand while carrying a signed note with specific required details; interstate travel through Erie; exercising First Amendment rights; being a homeless juvenile using the place as their abode; or attending an event City Council has separately authorized.

05 extend liability upstream: a parent who knowingly permits a minor to violate curfew, and a business operator who knowingly permits a minor to remain on the premises after hours, are each separately liable. 06 lets the Police Chief issue enforcement rules, including special-occasion hour extensions, subject to Council approval. 03 exception reasonably applies.
