The same section layers on weather-based closures: outdoor facilities and athletic fields close whenever the National Weather Service issues a tornado warning, thunderstorm warning, heat-index or severe air-quality warning, or any other severe weather advisory, or when the Coweta County Emergency Management Agency recommends closure; parks also close whenever local schools close for severe weather. Parks and recreation staff may postpone, reschedule or cancel any event if a safety hazard exists, and priority use goes first to parks-and-recreation programs and to athletic associations under a signed agreement with the department.

Using facilities as a gathering place for commercial or non-sanctioned activities requires the director's approval, and any event promoted publicly as taking place at a county facility must also be cleared with the director first. Chapter 46 applies not just to traditional parks but to the fairgrounds, Expo Center, and named community centers such as the Central, Panther Creek, Welcome, Senoia, Madras and Clay Wood community centers, plus the Tommy Thompson Senior Center and historic courthouse, under § 46-38, unless a facility's own rental agreement says otherwise.
