Killeen, TX Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

Section 19-32 of the Code of Ordinances closes every public park owned by the City of Killeen between 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. The rule dates to a 1979 parks ordinance and was last amended in 2008 to fix the current hours. A person found in or around a closed park during the curfew window can be cited by any law enforcement officer, with no separate warning requirement built into the section.

The curfew carries one written exception: it does not apply to city-sanctioned recreational functions that begin before 11:00 p.m. or continue past it, so an organized league game, tournament or department-run event running late is not automatically a violation for the participants and staff still on site. The curfew sits alongside other park-specific rules in Article II of Chapter 19: Section 19-33 closes city pools at 8:00 p.m. unless a function permit is issued, Section 19-30 applies state and city traffic law inside parks around the clock, and Section 19-36 separately lets the director of community services or the police chief close a park entirely or cancel activities at any time, independent of the fixed overnight curfew. That closure authority is broader than the curfew itself, letting the city shut a park for maintenance, weather, or public safety even during normal open hours.
