Moreno Valley, CA Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

Section 11.40.040(K), part of the general regulations that apply in every park and recreation facility under Chapter 11.40, states the prohibition directly: "No person shall tent, camp, lodge, or otherwise be present in any park after ten p.m. or before eight a.m. except when lawfully in attendance at an event approved by the director." The only way around the curfew is a director-approved event, such as a permitted evening program under Section 11.40.050. The same regulations reinforce the overnight closure with a companion fire rule in Section 11.40.040(J): no fire may be lit or maintained in a park between 10:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. the next day without the director's written permission.

Together the two rules keep Moreno Valley's parks, parkways and recreation facilities, including trails and the Box Springs Mountain wildland interface areas the district maintains, closed to camping and open flame overnight. The director gives notice of the curfew and the other regulations in Section 11.40.040 by posting signs at park entrances or in other appropriate places, as required by Section 11.40.110, and police officers and city park ranger staff are authorized under Section 11.40.090 to enter public and restricted parts of any park to enforce it.
