Full Breakdown
Under County Code § 32.1602, once the Chief Administrative Officer issues a Temporary Area Restriction for an event in the unincorporated area (per § 32.1501), no person may launch, land or operate a drone from inside that restricted perimeter or from within three miles of it. Flying is also barred whenever the Sheriff reasonably determines a drone is interfering with emergency operations, but the Sheriff must first warn the operator and give a reasonable chance to bring the drone back before enforcing. Accredited news media are exempted from the perimeter restriction unless their drone is itself found to be interfering with emergency operations.
Violations & Fines
Misdemeanor under County Code § 11.116 for violating Chapter 16 (UAS regulations), enforced by the Sheriff's Department.
