Oklahoma City, OK Drone Rules: Park Drone Restrictions (2026)

Oklahoma City folds its only citywide drone rule into the Parks and Recreation Department's General Schedule of Fees rather than a stand-alone drone ordinance. Article IV of Chapter 60, entirely rewritten by Ordinance No. 27749 on December 17, 2024, sets fees for special events, revocable events, vendor sales, and photography/videography permits at City parks, and its footnote to the professional photo/video permit line states plainly: drone usage in parks requires the Parks Director's approval and proof of commercial FAA licensure. 00 for unlimited annual use.

Both tiers also require a reservation and/or private event rental, and site fees can apply on top of the permit price. Before either permit is issued, the photographer or videographer, drone or not, must sign a written acknowledgement of the Parks and Recreation Department's rules and regulations. The Department carves out one exception: non-commercial student films or media filming must still meet the permitting requirements but are not charged the permit fee. Because the Code has no chapter dedicated solely to drones or unmanned aircraft, the Parks Director's approval and FAA-licensure proof function as the citywide gate for drone flights over City park land; a flight that is not tied to a professional or commercial photo/video permit still needs the Director's sign-off before launching, and it is administered by park staff on site rather than through a separate drone application.
