Full Breakdown
Section 12.32.165 of the Visalia Municipal Code classifies remote-controlled flying vehicles, including drones, as prohibited 'remote controlled recreational devices' in all public parks and recreation areas. This applies to hobby and recreational use alike. The City Manager may carve out specific times and places for authorized RC flying, and any such use must comply with federal (FAA) and state regulations. The prohibition is part of a broader rule covering hazardous recreational devices such as air guns and rockets. Note: Commercial drone operations may be subject to additional city permit requirements beyond this park rule.
Violations & Fines
Violations are a misdemeanor under Visalia Municipal Code § 12.32.215, subject to penalties in § 1.12.010. The court may reduce the charge to an infraction at the prosecutor's recommendation.
