Full Breakdown
Marion County requires an individual stormwater drainage plan at the time of permit application for any new structure or addition. The plan must match the master drainage plan for the development, or, where none exists, the Land Development Code's stormwater design criteria, and gets sign-off from the Office of the County Engineer. It must show where runoff not absorbed on site will go: an approved retention area or existing drainage ditch. During construction, any increase in runoff has to stay on site or be routed through swales, ditches, or piping to approved drainage areas, with erosion controls preventing uncontrolled discharge.
Violations & Fines
Building official can withhold the permit or certificate of occupancy until the drainage plan is submitted and approved by the County Engineer.
