East Baton Rouge Parish, LA Fence Regulations: Height Limits (2026)

Fences and walls must be set back a minimum of 15 feet from the edge of any street, except along alleys or back lanes where the minimum setback is five feet, or a minimum of five feet from the backside of any sidewalk. Setbacks may be reduced or waived where the abutting sidewalk or multi-use path is at least eight feet wide, or within existing platted subdivisions where similar permitted fences exist, subject to Building Official approval. Fences or walls may not be located within any required drainage, utility, or similar servitude without the consent of the entity holding the servitude. Corner lots must also honor the sight-distance triangle in UDC Appendix A.
