Prohibited materials include untreated wood prone to rapid deterioration, barbed wire or razor wire in residential zones, sharp pointed materials at pedestrian height, and materials creating a hazard. Approved materials include treated wood, masonry block, brick, stucco-finished walls, wrought iron, vinyl/PVC, and chain link. All fences must be maintained in good repair and not constitute a nuisance. Graffiti must be removed promptly. Retaining walls that also serve as fences have additional structural requirements requiring building permits.
Prohibited materials: code enforcement notice with correction period. Deteriorated fence creating hazard: nuisance abatement. Graffiti not removed: property maintenance violation. Each day of non-compliance is a separate offense.
