San Antonio UDC Β§35-514 requires fences to be constructed of approved materials: wood, chain link, stone, rock, concrete block, pre-cast concrete panels, masonry brick, brick, decorative wrought iron, or other materials of similar durability approved by the Development Services Director. Prohibited materials include: cast-off or secondhand items not originally intended as fencing, plywood less than 5/8 inch thick, unapproved-grade plywood, particle board, paper, visqueen plastic, plastic tarp, or similar materials. Barbed wire, razor wire, and materials capable of inflicting significant injury are prohibited, except by right at government facilities and by administrative exception for private nonresidential facilities. Fences may be built directly on the property line with no setback requirement. Fences cannot be placed in recorded easements without permission.
