Chapter 7 of the Boca Raton Code of Ordinances governs fire prevention and protection. Bonfires and fires on Boca Raton public beaches and parks are prohibited. Recreational fires in approved fire pit containers are subject to Florida DEP open burning rules and Palm Beach County air quality regulations. State law requires open burns be set back 300 feet from occupied buildings, 100 feet from paved public roads, and 50 feet from wildlands or combustible structures. As a densely developed coastal city, wildfire risk in Boca Raton is minimal.
Beach fires may result in fines not exceeding $500 or imprisonment up to 60 days, or both. Unauthorized open burning may result in citations from the fire department.
