Boca Raton, FL Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Section 28-1507 makes it unlawful to park, store or keep a commercial vehicle, recreational vehicle, boat or trailer on the pavement or in the swale of any public street in an R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, RE or REC residential district, and equally unlawful for a residential property owner to allow one on the property at all, except as the division otherwise permits. Section 28-1506 defines commercial vehicle broadly: any truck, truck tractor, step van, bus, or agricultural, construction or industrial equipment, plus any vehicle carrying commercial lettering or visible tools, building materials or merchandise from the street.

Section 28-1509 carves out the only lawful parking spots: light vans, pickups and similar vehicles must sit in a garage, carport or approved driveway; recreational vehicles, boats, trailers and qualifying commercial vehicles must be fully enclosed in a garage or carport, with no part projecting past the roofline and screened on 3 sides if in a carport, or parked in the rear yard, or side yard behind the front roofline, screened from off-premises view with at least 3 feet of separation from the building. Section 28-1508 exempts temporary parking during permitted construction, tradesman deliveries and service calls, a 24-hour emergency-repair window after which a disabled vehicle must be towed from the district, and up to 24 hours of loading or unloading a recreational vehicle before or after a trip, capped once per 7-day period.

The city manager may also issue a permit under Section 28-1512 extending any time limit up to 24 hours for good cause, and Section 28-1513 lets a wheelchair-confined resident get an unrestricted permit for a raised-roof van.
