Bucks County, PA Fire Regulations: Fire Pits & Backyard Fires (2026)

12(C) lists the exclusive ways to build a fire anywhere in the Bucks County Park System. Subsection (C)(1) limits fires to county-owned fireplaces, metal grills or approved public fire rings, and requires appropriate materials. Subsection (C)(2) adds a narrow second option for campers: camp stoves in areas designated for camping, but even there, propane tanks over 1 pound need the Director's written approval, and personally owned grills, apart from those camp stoves, are barred. Subsection (C)(3) is the only way to build a fire anywhere else: written approval from the Director in advance, and only in the area the Director designates for that purpose.

12(A) and (B) bar setting fire to vegetation or to any material not intended for burning, Subsection (D) bars scattering lit matches, ashes or burning cigarettes, and Subsection (E) bars leaving any fire unattended or not fully extinguished. Section 13 gives Park Police enforcement authority over the whole section. A violation is a summary offense under Section 12(A), fine up to $600 plus restitution and up to 10 days in jail, or the Department can instead issue a $25-to-$100 county ordinance ticket under Section 12(B), with possible expulsion from the Park System for six months to two years.
