Reedley, CA Fire Regulations: Fire Pit Rules (2026)

The City of Reedley has not enacted a specific fire pit ordinance with local setback distances, fuel type restrictions, or size limits. Recreational fire pits and outdoor fireplaces are regulated under the California Fire Code, which Reedley adopts through Title 9 (Building Regulations). The California Fire Code generally requires recreational fires to be contained in approved appliances, maintained at a safe distance from combustible structures, and attended at all times. A key consideration for Reedley residents is the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District (SJVAPCD) no-burn program. The SJVAPCD declares mandatory no-burn days during winter months (November through February) when air quality deteriorates in the valley.
