SLCRO §810.020 makes it unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation to sell, possess, offer for sale, expose for sale, give, use, discharge, or explode fireworks anywhere in St. Louis County. The ban is countywide and applies to incorporated and unincorporated areas.
Chapter 810 of the St. Louis County Revised Ordinances prohibits consumer fireworks year-round, including July 4th and New Year's. Permitted public displays require a permit obtained at least 10 business days in advance and must be conducted by licensed pyrotechnicians. Sparklers, bottle rockets, Roman candles, and aerial fireworks are all banned. Some surrounding counties (Jefferson, St. Charles) permit fireworks during set holiday windows — taking fireworks across the county line into St. Louis County remains illegal.
County ordinance violation up to $1,000 and/or 1 year jail; fireworks are seized and destroyed. Officers can issue summons on observation.
