Franklin Township, PA Fire Regulations: Fireworks (2026)

Chapter 16, Part 1 of the Franklin Township Code (Ord. 2012-01, 4/18/2012) sets rules for every park the township operates. Subsection R of § 16-103 prohibits carrying, exploding or discharging any firecrackers, fireworks, slingshots, arrows or other missile-propelling instruments, explosives, or other dangerous weapons that have properties capable of causing annoyance or injury to any person or property. It sits alongside related park-safety bans: Subsection N bars building any fire without written township permission, and Subsection T bars discharging a firearm unless written permission is granted and the discharge is lawful under applicable law.

Unlike those two, Subsection R carries no permission exception at all, making the fireworks and firecracker ban absolute inside park boundaries. The Code does not include a separate, township-wide fireworks ordinance outside the park system; consumer fireworks use elsewhere is governed by state law, not by this Chapter. Enforcement runs through § 16-106: a violation is a summary offense before a Magisterial District Judge, punishable by a fine of not more than $1,000 per occurrence plus costs of prosecution and imprisonment not to exceed 90 days.

Each day a violation continues, and each separate subsection of § 16-103 found violated, is treated as its own offense subject to additional per diem fines, and a violator found guilty must also pay for repairs to any vandalized park property under § 16-106, Subsection 2.
