Summary
Westchester County requires every mobile food unit to hold a Health Department permit and display the operator's name, address and permit number in four-inch letters on both sides.
No person shall engage in the business of operating a mobile food unit without first having obtained a permit therefor from the department. Every mobile food unit shall have posted clearly, at all times, on both sides of the outside of the mobile food unit in letters not less than four inches in height and 1 1/2 inches in width, the name and address of the person or persons who owns, leases or operates the business of the mobile food unit, and the department permit number.

Under § 873.491 of the county Sanitary Code, no one may operate a food truck, vending truck or cart in Westchester without a permit from the Department of Health. The unit must display the operator's name and address, plus the permit number, in letters at least four inches high and 1½ inches wide on both sides at all times. A vendor already permitted as part of a licensed food service establishment does not need a separate mobile-unit permit.
