' A food truck may only locate on a lot that already contains a principal building or use; it cannot anchor a vacant lot on its own. The number allowed per site scales with land area: one truck on sites under 20,000 square feet, and one truck per additional 20,000 square feet (or fraction) beyond that, calculated across a single lot or a group of contiguous lots under common use. A site can exceed that cap only with a special land use permit under article V, division 3.

Trucks must stay at least 100 feet from the main entrance of any eating or drinking establishment and at least 100 feet from any outdoor dining area serving one, unless the truck operator gets written, notarized permission from that establishment's owner and files it with the community development director before the city will issue a business license. Trucks cannot block pedestrian, bicycle or vehicle circulation, and must sit at least five feet from any driveway or public sidewalk edge and at least 15 feet from a fire hydrant.

They may not occupy parking spaces that count toward the principal use's minimum parking requirement, unless the truck and the principal use keep different hours, or any accessible parking space.
