Sparks, NV Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Sidewalk & Mobile Vending (2026)

Chapter 5.59 of the Sparks Municipal Code regulates roadway and sidewalk vending. A vendor permit is required to sell food, beverages, goods or merchandise from a stand, cart or vehicle on city streets or sidewalks within the Victorian Square area (Section 5.59.020), and Section 5.59.120 sets the physical placement rules for any sidewalk vendor stand: it cannot impede access to an adjacent entrance or driveway, cannot occupy more than half the sidewalk width or four feet (whichever is less), must stay at least ten feet from a fire hydrant, fire escape, bus stop, loading zone, or a fire station, police station or hospital driveway, and cannot lean on or hang from a building, lamp post, parking meter, mail box, traffic signal, tree, bench, bus shelter or traffic barrier.

Vendors must obtain identification badges from the Sparks Police Department for a ten-dollar fee, display them on their outer garment, and pay five dollars to replace a lost or damaged badge (Section 5.59.060). No permit issues for food sales without a Washoe County District Health Department health permit, and the health inspection certificate must stay visibly attached to the stand or vehicle (Section 5.59.070). Vendors must also carry proof of a public liability bond or insurance policy for property damage and injury before a permit issues (Section 5.59.050), keep the adjoining sidewalk and roadway clean of paper, peelings and refuse, and attach a marked litter container to food stands (Section 5.59.110).
