Gordon County, GA Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Vending Zones (2026)

Section 5.03.03 of the Gordon County Unified Land Development Code answers where a food truck can stand in unincorporated Gordon County, Georgia. Subsection A allows mobile food services on vacant lots or on lots containing a business, and only in the Commercial and Industrial zoning districts. A truck on a lot with an existing shop, a warehouse or a bare commercial parcel fits that description. A truck on land outside those districts does not.

Subsection E lists five places where a mobile food service shall not be located: the public right-of-way; any required setback area or buffer area; any required parking space; any driveway or access way, or in such a manner as to block a driveway or access way; and any designated fire lane, or in such a manner as to block a fire lane. The right-of-way ban takes county road frontage and shoulders off the table. The required parking ban means the truck cannot occupy spaces the host business needs to meet its own parking count. The driveway and fire lane clauses cover both standing in the lane and parking so that the lane is blocked.

Subsection F adds a parking duty for the truck itself. Parking spaces must be provided in addition to any required parking serving an established use on the lot, and those spaces must have a graveled or paved surface. A lot with no spare spaces beyond its own minimum cannot host a truck, and an open grass field cannot serve customers unless the spaces are graveled or paved.

Special events follow a different section. Section 5.03.02 limits festivals, fairs, carnivals and seasonal sales to the A-1, C-C, C-G, C-H, MU, I-1 or I-2 zoning districts and requires a permit under Chapter 10, except that events conducted by a church or school need no permit but must comply with the standards. An organized event is regulated by that section's own permit and site standards.
