Beyond the base permit, Hemet's operating conditions restrict where and how long a food truck may vend. Trucks cannot operate within one block of a school, park, community center or public playground unless approved for a city-sanctioned special event, and cannot vend within 100 feet of any marked or unmarked crosswalk. A truck may not vend on the same block for more than four cumulative hours in a 24-hour period, and operating hours are limited to 7:00 a.m. through 10:00 p.m. Trucks must also park legally, face service toward the sidewalk, and stay within 100 feet of an existing restaurant only with that restaurant's consent.
