Deer Park limits residential garage sales to a set number per calendar year per household. Exceeding the limit may trigger business licensing requirements.
Deer Park's garage sale ordinance (Chapter 22) restricts the frequency of residential sales to prevent properties from functioning as informal retail operations. Each household address is limited in how many permitted garage sales it may hold per calendar year. Each sale may run for a maximum of 2β3 consecutive days. Holding sales more frequently than allowed or conducting ongoing sales operations may be classified as operating a business from a residential property, which violates the home occupation provisions of the Zoning Ordinance (Appendix A). Code Enforcement monitors complaints about excessive garage sale activity.
Exceeding frequency limits: citation with fines up to $500. Ongoing sales activity may trigger home business/zoning violations with additional penalties.
