DeSoto limits customer and client traffic to home occupations to preserve the residential character of neighborhoods. Home businesses may receive clients by appointment only, typically one client or household at a time, and visits must occur during reasonable daytime hours. Parking generated by the home occupation must be accommodated on the property's driveway β on-street parking by clients that causes congestion or safety issues may result in permit revocation. Deliveries by commercial vehicles larger than standard package carriers (UPS, FedEx, USPS) are restricted. Group classes, meetings, or gatherings beyond the scale of a normal residential activity are prohibited. The home occupation must not generate traffic volumes exceeding what is normal for a residence.
Specific penalty amounts for this ordinance are not published in a publicly accessible fine schedule. Contact Desoto code enforcement directly for current fines, enforcement procedures, and hearing options.
