Pittsburgh caps home occupation traffic at six one-way vehicle trips per 24-hour day. All business parking must be off-street.
Under Chapter 912 of the Pittsburgh Zoning Code, a home occupation shall not generate more than six one-way vehicle trips per 24-hour day. This cap includes customer visits, deliveries, and any other vehicle movements attributable to the business. Any parking necessary to accommodate the home occupation must be provided off-street. No required setback or yard area, other than a pre-existing parking area, may be used for home-occupation parking. The intent is to prevent home businesses from altering the residential traffic and parking character of neighborhoods. Exceeding the trip limit or creating a parking nuisance could result in revocation of the home occupation permit.
