Suffolk caps a home occupation at 6 customers or clients per day, with customer hours limited to 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. under UDO Table 707-1. Only one non-resident employee is allowed and parking must stay in the driveway.
Table 707-1 of Section 31-707 sets firm limits so a home business does not change the neighborhood. No more than six customers or clients may visit per day, and customer hours run only from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Music, art, craft, or similar lessons are further capped at five or fewer clients per day. The operator must be a full-time resident, and no more than one non-resident employee is allowed. Customer parking is confined to the driveway and may not cause street congestion, no truck or van over 1.5 tons may park on site, and deliveries are limited to 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
Exceeding six daily customers, operating outside 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., parking on the street, or adding a second non-resident employee breaches Section 31-707 and is enforced by the Zoning Administrator as a zoning violation with daily penalties.
