070(C)(2) of the Merced County Zoning Code states that a home occupation shall not generate pedestrian or vehicular traffic beyond that which is normal in a residential area. 070(A)(3), which restricts vehicles related to the home occupation: no vehicle larger than a typical utility car, van, or pickup truck may be parked at the residence for the business, and only one vehicle specifically used to advertise the home occupation is allowed on site. 070(C)(1) adds that the operation cannot create noise or odor levels above what is typical in the surrounding neighborhood, which the Director weighs together with the traffic standard when reviewing a Zoning Clearance application.

Because there is no numeric client-visit cap in the ordinance, the Director makes a case-by-case determination of what traffic level exceeds normal residential activity, based on complaints and observed conditions at the property.
