North Las Vegas home businesses need a home occupation review under Title 17, Chapter 17.20 plus a city business license under Title 5. Planning and Zoning at (702) 633-1537 reviews eligibility before approval.
Under North Las Vegas Municipal Code Title 17, Chapter 17.20, any business operated from a dwelling must qualify as a home occupation and be approved through the Planning and Zoning Division before a business license is issued under Title 5. Applicants contact Current Planning at (702) 633-1537 to describe the proposed use and confirm it is compatible with the residential zone. Standard conditions include: operator must reside in the home; activity must be wholly inside the dwelling or an approved accessory structure; no exterior signs or displays; no outside storage of stock; no more than a limited number of non-resident employees (commonly zero to one); no nuisance emissions (odor, noise, dust, vibration, glare, electrical interference); and residential-level customer and delivery traffic. Once Planning confirms eligibility, the operator applies for a city business license and, depending on the activity, may also need state licenses (NRS 76), contractor or professional board licensing, or Southern Nevada Health District registration. HOA approval may be separately required.
Operating without home occupation approval: citation and cease-operation order. Continued violation: daily fines and misdemeanor penalties under Title 17.
