Anne Arundel County limits home occupation signage to one small identification sign (up to 2 sq ft). Signs may not be illuminated. External alterations advertising a business are prohibited in residential zones.
Anne Arundel County's home occupation provisions under Article 18 permit one small non-illuminated identification sign of up to approximately 2 sq ft on the property. The sign must not constitute advertising and is limited to identifying the occupant and profession. No additional commercial signage, banners, flags, or window signs indicating a business may be displayed. External modifications to make the building look commercial (awnings, display windows, commercial lighting) are prohibited. HOA communities may further restrict or prohibit business identification signs.
Unauthorized sign beyond 2 sq ft: citation, removal required. Illuminated sign: $100/day. Commercial alterations: stop-work and removal order.
