Under the Louisville Metro LDC and LMCO Chapter 155, home businesses in Jefferson County are limited to incidental signs of no more than 2 square feet for residential uses. Attached incidental signs cannot be mounted higher than 20 feet; freestanding incidental signs cannot exceed 3 feet in height. Incidental signs may be illuminated. All permanent signs require a sign permit from the Office of Planning. Temporary freestanding and banner signs also require permits and are limited to 120 days per year. In historic preservation districts, design overlay districts, or public rights-of-way, additional restrictions and design review apply.
