New Braunfels, TX Home Business: Signage Rules (2026)

Sec. 5 of the zoning ordinance regulates home occupations across every residential district in the city, and the sign rule is one clause inside a much longer list of restrictions. 5-2(n) allows exactly one identification sign, and it cannot be illuminated, must be physically attached to the exterior of the dwelling (no yard signs, no A-frames), and the sign face cannot exceed four square feet. ; only one non-household employee may work on site; and no more than one business-related commercial vehicle, of one ton or less, may be kept on the property, parked behind the front building line.

The business cannot be visible from the street, cannot store materials outdoors, and cannot sell any commodity directly on the premises. 5-2(b), is currently suspended pending a change in state or case law, so that restriction is not enforced. 5-7, provided they were not already violating another law when the code took effect.
