Oklahoma City §59-5450 prohibits all external signage for home occupations. No window displays, no commercial vehicle signs. HOAs impose additional restrictions.
Oklahoma City Municipal Code §59-5450(B)(3) prohibits any exterior evidence of a home occupation including signs, banners, window displays, lighting, or commercial vehicle signage visible from the street. Edmond Code §22-19 and Midwest City §30-160 impose identical restrictions. This prohibition is designed to preserve residential neighborhood character. Unincorporated Oklahoma County has no home-business signage preemption but still prohibits commercial signs in residential parcels. Oklahoma has no state-level home business signage preemption. Violations of the First Amendment-protected political, religious, or "for sale" signs are not restricted under this rule. Commercial vehicles (company-lettered trucks, vans) parked in driveways overnight are commonly flagged as home-business signage violations under §59-5450 and §59-9150 together.
Sign removal order within 7 days. Continued violation: $100 to $500 per day (OKC §59-9999). Home occupation permit revocation risk.
