Section 13-513(c)(2) of the Land Development Code sets the entire sign allowance for a home-based business operating out of a residence in unincorporated Sumter County: one sign, with a face no larger than ten square feet, and no illumination of any kind. The limit sits inside the broader neighborhood-impact standards for home-based businesses, alongside bans on outdoor display of goods and requirements to screen stored equipment and keep tools quiet, so a business that installs a lit sign or a second sign is out of compliance with the same section that lets it operate in the first place.

Because the standard is written into the home-based business article rather than the county's general sign article, article X, it overrides the larger commercial sign allowances that apply to freestanding businesses; a home occupation cannot borrow the bigger sign area available to a retail parcel.
