Full Breakdown

Will County Code § 155-12.90(D)(4) declares invasive and noxious plant species a public nuisance and bars them from meeting required landscaping, and separately prohibits planting or maintaining them at all on land subject to the zoning code's landscaping article. The Zoning Administrator can order a property owner to remove invasive or noxious species regardless of who introduced them. Tree and shrub planting lists elsewhere in § 155-12.90 also exclude species the Administrator finds invasive. This zoning chapter applies only in unincorporated Will County; Joliet, Bolingbrook, Romeoville, Plainfield and Lockport enforce their own municipal codes.

Violations & Fines

Zoning Administrator can order removal and withhold or revoke permits; ongoing noncompliance runs through county administrative adjudication under § 155-17.20, with each week a violation continues counted as a separate offense.
