Clark County has no ordinance banning residential artificial turf, and homeowners may install it in their yards. In development-regulated landscaping, county code specifies that groundcover plants, grass lawn, or approved flowers must cover required landscaped areas, so synthetic turf may not satisfy required plantings without approval from the responsible official.
For ordinary single-family yards, no Clark County Code provision prohibits artificial turf. Where landscaping is required as a condition of development, CCC 40.320.010 calls for living groundcover, grass lawn, or approved flowers to fully cover the landscaped area not in shrubs and trees, and required landscaping must be maintained in a healthy manner. Synthetic turf generally does not count toward those required living-plant standards unless the responsible official approves an alternative.
No penalty for private-yard turf. Substituting turf for required living landscaping without approval can be a UDC compliance issue subject to correction notices.
