Water restrictions in Martin County, FL β also called the watering schedule, outdoor irrigation rules, or drought ordinance β set which days and hours you can run sprinklers or irrigation.
Martin County's year-round Landscape Irrigation Ordinance (effective June 12, 2022) implements the South Florida Water Management District's two-day-per-week schedule. Odd-numbered addresses water Wednesday and/or Saturday; even-numbered addresses water Thursday and/or Sunday. No irrigation is allowed between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Adopted to implement SFWMD's year-round Mandatory Landscape Irrigation Conservation Measures, Martin County's ordinance applies countywide to unincorporated areas including Hobe Sound, Hutchinson Island (Martin County portion), Jensen Beach, North River Shores, Palm City, Port Salerno, and Rio. The schedule applies to both well and city water. Odd-numbered addresses (or letters N-Z) irrigate Wednesday and/or Saturday; even (or A-M) irrigate Thursday and/or Sunday. Irrigation between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. is prohibited because of peak evaporation. New landscape, hand watering, low-volume micro-irrigation, and reclaimed water uses have limited exceptions. Hardship variances are available through the county.
Code Enforcement issues warnings on first violation and citations thereafter. Penalties escalate; continuing violations may be referred to the Code Enforcement Board with daily civil fines under Fla. Stat. 162.09.
