Under Sec. 159.135 of the Martin County Code, unincorporated-county properties may run landscape irrigation only two days a week: even-numbered addresses on Thursday and/or Sunday, odd-numbered addresses on Wednesday and/or Saturday. Sprinklers may never run between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on any day. New landscaping gets a 90-day window of more frequent watering, and low-volume hand watering, drip irrigation, and rain barrels are exempt from the day-of-week schedule. The County Department of Utilities and Solid Waste can grant variances for smart, moisture-sensing systems, but a South Florida Water Management District water-shortage order overrides these rules entirely.
