Section 22-33 is a single, absolute sentence: it is unlawful to park vehicles at any time within bicycle lanes adjacent to arterial and collector streets. There is no carve-out in the text for brief stops, loading or emergencies, unlike the oversized-vehicle and recreational-vehicle sections nearby that do build in loading windows. The section was enacted by Ordinance No. 2754 on March 6, 2012, as part of the citywide rewrite of chapter 22, article II on parking. A related but separate rule governs how drivers treat cyclists on the roadway itself: section 22-13 requires the operator of a motor vehicle overtaking and passing a bicycle proceeding in the same direction to leave a safe distance of not less than three (3) feet and to maintain that clearance until safely past the bicycle, extending to any human-powered vehicle allowed on Auburn's roadways under Alabama law.
