Full Breakdown

Under Chico Municipal Code § 10.40.100, once a bicycle lane has been established on a street, a cyclist must operate within its confines and obey all traffic control devices governing it. When more than one bicycle travels the same direction on the same street, sidewalk, or bike lane, riders must go single file. The same chapter separately restricts sidewalk riding downtown and requires audible warning before passing pedestrians elsewhere in the city.

Violations & Fines

Bicycle Code violations are enforced by Chico Police under the general municipal code penalty provisions; each day of a continuing violation is a separate offense under the city's standard violations chapter.
