The rule sits alongside Section 6-5-1(J), which separately requires that engine and motor-vehicle exhaust discharge only through a muffler or similar device that prevents loud or explosive noise, a provision that would reach an unmuffled generator engine as well. Neither provision sets an hours restriction or a decibel ceiling; enforcement depends on whether the noise disturbs neighbors, which the City Manager or a designee evaluates under Section 6-5-6. A resident running emergency backup power during a storm or outage may qualify for the emergency-operations exemption in Section 6-5-3(A), which excuses short-term emergency utility and safety work from the Chapter 5 prohibitions provided reasonable steps are taken to minimize the noise. Absent that emergency exemption, a repeated generator-noise complaint is treated the same as any other Chapter 5 violation, a municipal infraction under Section 1-4-2.
