Loudspeakers, PA systems, radios, stereos and amplified instruments are named 'sound producing devices' under Lane Code 6.225. Amplified sound may not exceed 50 dBA overnight (60 dBA daytime) at a neighbor's boundary, or be plainly audible inside a home from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.
LC 6.225.005 defines sound-producing devices to include 'loudspeakers, public address systems,' 'radios, tape recorders and/or tape players, phonographs, television sets, stereo systems including those installed in a vehicle,' and 'musical instruments, amplified or unamplified.' A person may apply to the county Manager for a variance (LC 6.225.020) for a specific event.
