Construction hours in Davenport, IA — sometimes called construction noise rules or contractor work-hour ordinances — set when contractors can run power tools, hammers, and heavy equipment.
Construction tools are allowed daytime hours (7 AM to 10 PM) on weekdays and Saturdays. Nighttime, Sunday, and holiday work that disturbs homes is prohibited, and noise cannot exceed 85 dBA at any property line.
Section 8.19.070(E) bars operating construction, drilling, or demolition tools during nighttime hours on weekdays and Saturday, or any time on Sunday or holidays, when the sound creates a noise disturbance across a residential property boundary. At all other times, construction noise cannot exceed 85 dBA across a real property boundary. City public-services crews, city-contracted work, and public utilities are exempt. Daytime hours are defined as 7 AM to 10 PM (Sec. 8.19.020). Domestic power tools are handled separately under Sec. 8.19.070(M).
Simple misdemeanor under Sec. 8.19.170: $25 to $100 fine and up to 30 days jail, each day a separate offense. The environmental officer may issue an abatement order under Sec. 8.19.140.
