Full Breakdown
Will County Code § 93.082(B) makes it a public nuisance for any person or business entity to let sound cross the boundary of their property in violation of 35 Ill. Admin. Code Part 901, the Illinois Pollution Control Board's sound emission standards for property-line noise sources -- the numeric limits the state applies to industrial and commercial sources. The rule reaches unincorporated Will County only; Joliet, Bolingbrook, Romeoville, Plainfield and Lockport enforce their own municipal noise codes. The County Sheriff's Police and the Administrator of the Building and Zoning Code jointly enforce it, and violators face a petty-offense fine of $100 to $500 plus court costs, with each day a separate violation.
Violations & Fines
Violating § 93.082(B)'s property-line noise standard is a petty offense: $100 to $500 fine plus court costs per § 93.999(F); each day of noncompliance counts as a separate violation.
