Industrial districts in New Orleans are capped at 75 dBA (L10) at all times, with an 85 dBA peak (Lmax); stationary machinery, fans and air conditioners may not exceed the Table 1 limit of the receiving property.
City Code Sec. 66-202 Table 1 sets an industrial-district limit of 75 dBA (L10) at all times with an 85 dBA Lmax peak, measured at or beyond the property boundary. Sec. 66-203(7) makes it unlawful to operate stationary machinery, air conditioners, air-handling equipment or fans so as to exceed the Table 1 limit of the receiving land use when measured on receiving property. Aging equipment gets a compliance schedule (six months to two years by age) but owners must still take other reasonable noise-reduction actions. Where a source crosses land-use categories, the more restrictive limit applies.
Misdemeanor under Sec. 66-140: fine up to the state maximum and/or up to 90 days jail; each day a separate offense. Abatement by injunction is available under Sec. 66-141.
