Bellevue does not ban gas leaf blowers. Yard equipment is limited to 7 AM-8 PM weekdays and 9 AM-8 PM weekends under BCC 9.18. Off-hours use is a noise disturbance.
Bellevue has no citywide ban on gas-powered leaf blowers as of April 2026 (unlike Seattle, which is phasing gas blowers out). Operation is regulated under BCC 9.18 as a yard maintenance or landscaping activity. Powered yard equipment including leaf blowers, lawn mowers, chainsaws, and string trimmers are generally exempt from residential sound level limits when used between 7 AM and 8 PM on weekdays, and 9 AM to 8 PM on weekends and legal holidays. Outside those hours, use that is clearly audible across a property boundary or 75 feet from the source constitutes a noise disturbance under BCC 9.18.040. Commercial landscape crews must also comply with construction hour restrictions (7 AM to 8 PM weekdays, 8 AM to 6 PM Saturdays, none on Sundays) when operating in residential areas. The Washington Department of Ecology encourages electric equipment for air quality reasons, and Bellevue's Environmental Stewardship Initiative promotes low-emission alternatives but does not mandate them.
Operation outside permitted hours: noise disturbance citation under BCC 9.18.040. Commercial crews violating construction hours: additional enforcement by code compliance.
