Auburn does not ban gas leaf blowers. Powered yard equipment runs 7 AM to 10 PM weekdays and 9 AM to 10 PM Sundays under ACC 8.28.010. Commercial landscapers follow the same hours.
Auburn City Code 8.28.010 defines sounds originating from residential property from powered tools and maintenance equipment including lawnmowers, leaf blowers, chain saws, and powered hand tools as public disturbance noise when operated before 7 AM or after 10 PM on weekdays, or before 9 AM or after 10 PM on Sundays. There is no separate ban on gas-powered leaf blowers, unlike some California jurisdictions. Commercial landscaping crews servicing residential neighborhoods must also stay inside those hours because their noise is received on a residential property. In multifamily and mixed-use zones, property managers sometimes restrict hours more tightly through lease covenants. Electric and battery-powered equipment is not exempt from the time restriction but typically operates well below the WAC 173-60 limits so violations outside the window are less likely to be plainly audible across property lines.
Operating a leaf blower outside permitted hours is a public disturbance under ACC 8.28.010 and a civil infraction. First contacts are usually warnings; repeat calls draw fines.
