The prior rule capped use to two hours on weekdays and one hour on weekends.

  Irvine is phasing out gas-powered landscaping equipment entirely under Municipal Code § 6-8-205(D). Large businesses (50+ employees) lost gas leaf blowers and mowers on July 1, 2024; every other business and resident followed on January 1, 2025. Gas string trimmers, hedge trimmers, chain saws, and edgers follow the same two-tier schedule, ending July 1, 2026 for everyone else.

  Lancaster bans landscape maintenance businesses from using gasoline-powered leaf blowers, mowers and edger-trimmers anywhere in the city starting April 1, 2027, under Municipal Code Chapter 8.70. The prohibition targets commercial landscapers only; homeowners and tenants maintaining their own property, and federal, state or local government contractors, are exempt. A violating business faces a misdemeanor charge carrying up to a $1,000 fine and six months in jail.

• Miami Beach, FLHeavy Restrictions$250

  Gas-powered leaf blowers are outlawed citywide in Miami Beach under City Code Sec. 46-242. Only battery- and electric-powered blowers may be used, and operators are urged to keep noise under 65 decibels. The ban, from Ordinance No. 2022-4460, has been fully enforced since August 1, 2023.

  Montgomery County bans the sale and use of combustion engine-powered handheld, backpack, and walk-behind leaf blowers and vacuums, following a phased 2023 law that took full effect in July 2025.

  Unincorporated Napa County does not have a stand-alone leaf-blower ban. Powered garden tools (leaf blowers, mowers, chainsaws) are regulated under the general property-line noise standards in Napa County Code §8.16.070 and the prohibited-noise list in §8.16.080. They cannot be operated in a way that creates a noise disturbance across a residential property line and cannot exceed the §8.16.070 exterior limits, which are lower between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.

• New Rochelle, NYHeavy Restrictions8 a.m.-5 p.m., Oct. 1-May 31

  New Rochelle bans leaf blowers outright from June 1 through September 30 every year under § 213-5.G(3). From October 1 to May 31, they may run only 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, with violations punishable by a fine up to $250 or 15 days in jail.

  Newport Beach regulates leaf blower use through its general noise ordinance under NBMC Chapter 10.26. Gas-powered leaf blowers must comply with permitted landscaping hours and decibel standards. The city has not enacted a full ban on gas blowers.
