(C) Increased demand for electricity from added charging requirements for more zero-emission small off-road equipment.
(D) Use cases of both commercial and residential lawn and garden users.
(E) Expected availability of zero-emission generators and emergency response equipment.
Full Breakdown
Mountain View restricts leaf blower use city-wide under City Code provisions predating and now complementing California AB 1346, which bans sale of new gas-powered small off-road engines statewide. Within Mountain View, gas-powered leaf blowers are prohibited for residential and commercial landscaping; only electric corded or battery-powered units may be used. Even compliant electric blowers are limited to operating hours between 8am and 8pm on weekdays and 9am and 6pm on weekends and holidays. Landscapers serving Google, LinkedIn, and North Bayshore corporate campuses must use low-noise electric equipment and maintain decibel compliance. Violations carry fines starting at 100 dollars for the operator and potentially the property owner.
