Coral Gables regulates leaf blowers and landscaping equipment noise under Chapter 34, Article VI. Equipment must comply with the 60 dB or 10 dB over ambient noise standard. Landscaping equipment operation follows the same construction hour restrictions, with weekday use permitted 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM and limited Saturday hours.
Leaf blowers and motorized landscaping equipment are regulated under the general noise provisions of Chapter 34, Article VI, Section 34-205 (machinery and equipment). Equipment noise cannot exceed 60 dB or 10 dB above ambient noise levels. Commercial landscaping crews must operate within permitted construction hours: Monday through Friday 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, Saturdays 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM in non-residential areas. Residential exterior work on Saturdays is restricted. No landscaping equipment operation is permitted on Sundays or city-recognized holidays. Coral Gables does not currently ban gas-powered leaf blowers but enforces strict noise thresholds applicable to all motorized equipment.
Violations reported to Code Enforcement at (305) 460-5216 or Police at (305) 442-1600. Fines up to $500 for repeat violations. Equipment operators and property owners may both be cited for noise exceeding permitted levels.
